2022 Ford Explorer Review
2022 Ford Explorer: Power & Performance
The 2022 Explorer comes equipped with a 2.3L Turbocharged, Direct Injection Ti-VCT EcoBoost® I-4 engine that’s been paired together with a 10-speed automatic transmission. To achieve best results with power outputs, it is recommended that premium fuel is used in the vehicle. To that regard, this configuration can achieve up to 300 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque.
The 2022 Explorer is also keen to show off its exciting towing abilities, with the inclusion of Rear-Wheel Drive. The rear-wheel architecture enables an athletic design while also ensuring on- and off-road capability and an impressive towing capacity. Featured in this trim is the Trailer Sway Control feature which helps you maintain a synched-up drive between you and your trailer. For this engine, when properly equipped, its maximum towing capability is 5,300 pounds.
2022 Ford Explorer: Interior Dimensions
When you’re headed into the unknown, its good to have a comfortable seat. While it might be rocky going over mountainous terrain, it doesn’t mean you or your passengers should feel it. The designers at Ford understood this and granted the 2022 Explorer with a generous amount of interior cabin space, enough to casually stretch out your legs while also offering freedom of movement within the cabin. The hard measurements are as follows:
- Headroom: 40.7 inches/38.9 inches, 40.5 inches/38.2 inches, 38.9 inches
- Legroom: 43 inches/39 inches/32.2 inches
- Hip Room: 59.2 inches/59.1 inches/40.9 inches
- Shoulder Room: 61.8 inches/61.9 inches/54.6 inches
You can see by the hard numbers above that you and your passengers are in for a world of comfort within the 2022 Explorer. The different stats for headroom mean that the Explorer is adaptable to different needs and configurations to the cabin. But that’s not all as the 2022 Explorer has considered that you’d like to bring your gear along. The three cargo volumes are the following:
- Cargo Volume Behind 3rd Row: 18.2 cubic feet
- Cargo Volume Behind 2nd Row: 47.9 cubic feet
- Cargo Volume Behind 1st Row: 87.8 cubic feet
So, depending on how large a crew you have on board, you’ll have no trouble bringing all the necessities you’ll need to explore the wilderness.
2022 Ford Explorer: Infotainment
The infotainment selection on this year’s Explorer model is full of great amenities. There’s the FordPass Connect™ app that connects you to your Ford vehicle from your phone or computer, giving you access to information and additional apps. One such example is the FordPass Connect™ 4G LTE Wi-Fi Hotspot which transforms your vehicle into an internet hotspot that up to 10 devices can directly connect to.
